These two seemingly contradictory qualities can be integrated to enhance your entrepreneurial skills. By looking at yourself from both of these perspectives, you’ll be able to gain a better view of your ideas and how to implement them.
Definitions of Stoicism can cover a wide range, but in general, the following are widely accepted:
Acceptance of What Cannot Be Changed
Focus on What Is Within Your Control
Developing Inner Resilience
Practicing Mindfulness and Self-Awareness
Cultivating Gratitude and Contentment
Embracing Adversity and Practicing Resilience
Finding Your Inner Peace
Your Alter Ego is like having a second personality within yourself. It could be called the living of a double life. In literature the term is used often in describing a secret identity for both good or bad. This character could do this so others wouldn’t know what he or she is doing. Super hero’s are all well known for their hidden alter ego and stoic feats against evil.
In my case as Terrell Kaucher, I try to do all I can to live a stoic life. I have not tried to hide my identity as “The-Idea-Man” nor am I a Super Hero. In some entrepreneurial instances, decisions must be made that will serve the pursuit of what’s best for the organization, rather than what’s best for me personally. Being able to differentiate between these entrepreneurial challenges with an additional perspective can lead to better decision making.
